 Accommodation

Hadspen House, built around 1690, captures the essence of a Georgian country home. A place to delight, its elegant rooms have been restored and reimagined, while its unique setting inspires our garden-to-table dining and garden-scented Spa.

Choose a book from the Library, sampling our selection of teas in the Drawing Room. Sip a cocktail while peering across the Croquet Lawn at the Somerset landscape. Feast on homegrown fare in The Botanical Rooms. Get together in the Bar or Croquet Room, choosing from the collection of wines in our vaulted cellars below, as well as our very own cyder.

Breakfast is included in your stay and will be served in The Botanical Rooms. Our gardens provide an abundance of hand-picked seasonal fruit and vegetables, complemented with fresh breads and pastries from our own Bakery, dairy from Somerset cows and honey from local bees.

The Botanical Rooms offer a menu sourced from the Estate and the very best specialities from the South West. Inspired by the Georgian setting and our Kitchen Garden, dishes are largely locally sourced, just-picked fruit and vegetables suggested by the seasons. A rather unique grill prepares carefully husbanded venison, fish and meat, some from the Estate itself.

Float in the tranquillity of a heated indoor-outdoor pool. Indulge your body with a splash in the hammam and nourish your skin in the rasul mud chamber. Perhaps a massage, pedi or mani? Soak in the steam room, dry in the sauna and clear your breathing passages in the Himalayan salt room; and to tone your body, a futuristic gym looking onto a pick-your-own Kitchen Garden.

40 rooms split between Hadspen House, The Stable Yard and The Farmyard

Hadspen House - The main house was built in the 17th century, then extensively remodelled in Georgian times. It nestles quietly amongst gardens, orchards, lakes and woodlands that reflect the love lavished upon them over the past three hundred years. The restrained, classical beauty of the house is offset by playful design. Thirteen guest rooms have luxury bathrooms and offer every comfort. An inventive afternoon tea, using fruit and vegetables from our gardens and fresh cakes and pastries from our Bakery, is served in the Drawing Room.

Hadspen Garden View Rooms - On the first floor, all rooms have a super king size bed, exquisite views, luxury ensuite and fireplaces. Breakfast is included in the room rate, as is a complimentary mini larder. Guests have access to the Estate, gardens and spa, with croquet and badminton available on the private lawn.

Hadspen Rooms - Part of the original Georgian house, the rooms are unique and all have a super king size bed and luxury en suite bathroom. Breakfast is included in the room rate, as is a complimentary mini larder. Guests have access to the Estate, gardens and spa, with croquet and badminton available on the private lawn.

Hadspen Cosy Rooms - Part of the original Georgian house, all rooms have luxury en suite bathrooms. Breakfast is included in the room rate, as is a complimentary mini larder. Guests have access to the Estate, gardens and spa, with croquet and badminton available on the private lawn.

Hadspen Lofts - Originally intended for servants, these rooms offer far-reaching views and exude joie de vivre. All have luxury en suite bathrooms. Breakfast is included in the room rate, as is a complimentary mini larder. Guests have access to the Estate, gardens and spa, with croquet and badminton available on the private lawn.

The Stable Yard - The original horse yard, built of honey-coloured Hadspen stone, has been transformed into sophisticated guest accommodation while retaining characteristics harking back to its equestrian past.

Stable Rooms - The creative luxury of these rooms celebrates their heritage as horse boxes. Hay mangers sit beautifully next to king size beds and stalls with wood-burning stoves and tie-rings, with luxury en suite bathrooms. Hengroen and Llamrei were two of King Arthur’s horses: their stables occupy the ground floor, while their Farrier and Groom lived in equally appointed lofts on the first floor.

Stable Lofts - Hidden above our Stable Rooms live our serenely white Stable Lofts spaces. Stay in Farrier's or Groom's and enjoy super king size beds, wood-burning stoves, luxury en suite facilities, and views over the Stable Yard or hotel Kitchen Garden.

Clock House Rooms - In the 18th century, this was conceived as a coach house. It now houses four individual bedrooms – two doubles and two twins – luxury en suite bathrooms, complimentary mini larders and charming views. These can be booked individually, or as one property for groups wishing for some time together. Ground-floor rooms have direct access to the spa.

Hayloft & Woolsack - These rooms have been converted from 18th-century farm buildings storing hay and wool (the latter was the source of Somerset’s wealth until American cotton destroyed the market). They can be combined to offer a family suite. The Hayloft offers a king size bed on its own mezzanine floor with a spacious sitting room, wood-burning stove and complimentary mini larder. The Woolsack sports twin beds and luxury shower room. Both enjoy a private terrace.

Granary - The charmingly elevated Georgian Granary has been converted into a romantic hideaway with a futon-style king size bed, exposed stone walls and snug shower room concealed beneath the granary floor.

The Farmyard - New for 2021, the award-winning Farmyard boasts 17 luxury rooms in once agricultural buildings.

Restaurants

The Botanical Rooms - Guests can enjoy fun dining inspired by their surroundings. Sharing small plates as the Georgians did, or feasting on whole meats and vegetables cooked on a unique grill, fired with wood from the Estate.

Bar - The hotel bar drinks menu is guided by seasonal produce and our Georgian setting, with punches, cocktails and aperitifs popular in the 18th century. It also has an inventive food offering of small dishes wrapped in curious ways: in vine leaves, kohlrabi, Scotched or en croute. Expect colourful gifts that are easy to eat and share.

Horns & Pigtails - In the original vaulted cellar of the house, communal dining, wine tasting, special events and Georgian feasts for 14–16 people are possible. Menus are inspired by Georgian documents found in the house.

The Garden Café - Eat what you see. The Garden Café offers a perfect vantage point to enjoy the kitchen gardens and orchards below, from which food is sourced. The menu varies with the seasons. Nothing much is wasted: we try to care for the land that feeds us.

The Cyder Bar - We are showcasing six varieties of cyder that we make on the Estate. You can also sample the freshest juices, fine teas and coffees. To sustain your exploration of the Estate and gardens, try delicious fare from our Bakery – such as piping hot pies and pastries with a variety of fillings, roasted and pickled vegetables, and freshly baked cakes and tarts.

Gardener’s Cottage - Seasonal sweet treats made from our own milk, from creamy gelato to warming hot chocolates. (Coming Soon)
