THE PIG-in the South Downs is made up of the main house with a traditional greenhouse restaurant, and rooms spread out between a higgledy-piggledy collection of traditional brick, flint and timber clad Sussex stable yard buildings. Together with Field and Garden Wagons, they provide a real range and variety of accommodation; all have been lovingly restored and nestle together around original courtyards - the feel is intimate, safe, and friendly.
Extremely Small Room - The smallest bedroom is quiet and cosy, and is tucked away in the Main House, with views over the Courtyard. The bathroom has a walk-in monsoon shower.
Snug - Cosy double room in the Main House with a king-sized bed and a bathroom with a walk-in monsoon shower, overlooking the Kitchen Garden.
Comfy - Larger bedrooms located in the Courtyard, Stable Yard and Groom’s Cottage, they all have bathrooms with walk-in monsoon showers.en views and bathrooms with monsoon showers.
Comfy Luxe - Large bedrooms located in the Courtyard and Stable Yard. All have walk-in monsoon showers and freestanding baths, either within the bathroom or in the bedroom.
Tack Room - a super cosy quirky retreat in the Stable Yard with a small terrace. Set over two floors, the bedroom is downstairs with a king-size bed and the bathroom is upstairs with a freestanding bath and walk-in monsoon shower, and it has its own small terrace.
Big Comfy Luxe - Slightly larger than the Comfy Luxe rooms located in the Main House, Stable Yard and Groom’s Cottage with a large monsoon shower and a freestanding bath.
Old Stable - Located in the Stable Yard with the original stable partitions and an open plan layout, paved flooring and restored timber panelling, the Old Stable has a super-king four-poster bed, freestanding bath and walk-in monsoon shower. The Old Stable has its own small terrace.
Gracie’s Shed - Named after its original, much loved four-legged resident pony - Gracie’s Shed is a cosy, rustic, yet romantic wood clad hut, that stands on its own in the Stable Yard. It has a king-size four-poster bed and bathroom with a freestanding bath and walk-in monsoon shower. Close to the main house under the shade of an ancient Lime tree, this is a unique room with an outside leafy seating area.
Field Wagon -
Closer to nature but with all the comforts of a bedroom in the Main House – these bespoke romantic wagons have been designed using traditional craft methods but then kitted out with all the mod-cons! Our 2 Field Wagons are literally in the field; beautifully secluded and private they are surrounded by unbeatable views out across the South Downs. Full of rustic reclaimed wood and texture, cosy furnishings and each with its own log burner and sofa to snuggle up on, these Wagons have king-sized beds and en suite bathrooms with monsoon showers, freestanding baths and bags of space for two. They also have their own private terraces and private outdoor showers for alfresco showering. These Wagons are made for adventurous escapes for two and being just a short stroll from the house means you can easily nip between the house and your retreat (we provide umbrellas on the soggier days). There is loads of storage, but we would suggest you pack soft as hard cases will be a squeeze.
Garden Wagons -

Even Bigger Comfy Luxe Room 2 - The biggest room in the Main House! It is very light with dual aspect windows, high ceilings and unbelievable views out across our vineyard and the rolling South Downs. With a super-king 4 poster-bed and a very large open plan bathroom with an ‘avocado’ freestanding bath and walk-in monsoon shower.
Even Bigger Comfy Luxe Room 6 - A small set of steps leads up into the largest room in the Courtyard. Open plan across one level, the largest room in the Courtyard is full of original features, exposed brick and reclaimed timber and has a super-king four-poster bed, a study area, a bathroom with a freestanding bath and walk-in monsoon shower and huge walk-in wardrobe.
Hayloft - Located on the 1st floor of the Stable Yard, the Hayloft has an external staircase leading up to it. It has a pitched ceiling and an open plan bedroom, seating area and bathroom. With a super-king bed, and a freestanding bath and walk-in monsoon shower in the bathroom.
The Chicken Shack - A great room! Full of character with exposed beams and original features, the bedroom, bathroom and sitting areas are on one level with a super-king four-poster bed and freestanding bath in the room, and a bathroom with a walk-in monsoon shower. The Chicken Shack has its own little terrace.
Apple Store - Nestled away at the bottom of the walled Kitchen Garden, the original Apple Store is cosy, private and quiet – a rustic romantic hideaway! The bedroom and bathroom are on one level with a super-king four-poster bed, and a bathroom with a walk-in monsoon shower and freestanding bath in the bathroom. The Apple Store has its own little terrace.
Restaurant
The Restaurant - Tuck into the famous PIG 25-mile menu, and enjoy a really wide ranging wine list. The location on the South Downs, the sunniest climate, means The Pig on the South Downs produces their own wine from the on-sight vineyard.
