STAY AT HOME & TRAVEL WITH ALS

Covid-19 may have halted travel plans, but that does not mean you can’t appreciate the art of travel from afar. Here at ALS, we have put together our favourite ways to turn self-isolation into a stay-cation, whether that be a day, long weekend or a week to help you escape even when your favourite summer spots aren’t reachable.

Take inspiration from your favourite hotels

There is nothing quite like the feeling when you first walk into your hotel room, freshly made bed, new toiletries and a fully stocked bar! Put on your best sheets, make the bed to perfection - hospital corners and all. It is the little touches within the room that will make the difference. Fresh toiletries, perhaps treat yourself to the same used in your favourite hotel, chocolates on the bedside table, candles lit to set the mood, the ingredients of your favourite nightcap laid on the window sill.

Some of our favourites include The Newt in Somerset, Nihi Sumba in Indonesia and Kalesma in Mykonos.

Instagram accounts that take you away

With physical connections limited currently, social media is a blessing to stay connected with loved ones but also delve into feeds that transport you off the sofa and to the beaches we’re all lusting after right now. Condé Nast Traveller’s feed is full of inspiration both home and away; Seehura’s account posts the most instagrammable hotels and villas across the globe and on ALS Sun’s feed we’ll be taking you around the globe week-by-week showcasing all we love about travel. Collate a collection in your bookmarks for when this is over!

Follow our social media campaign which we have just launched to help cheer people up in this uncertain time. We are focussing on a different country each week and sharing beautiful pictures of properties and brands we love.

Revisit Holiday Memories

With all this extra time but unable to travel, it is the perfect opportunity to revisit memories made on previous adventures. Go through photos that take you back, perhaps spend time creating photo albums full of special memories of a certain trip.

We are so fortunate to be able to stay connected to one another through social media. Although upcoming trips may have been put on hold and new memories in those places cannot be made at this moment, make that zoom call with friends and make memories a slightly different way than expected.

Eating in

Exploring a culture through its food is one of the best ways, we’ve been pining over our favourite eateries across the globe. Take yourself away through flavour and bring it to your kitchen. Challenge yourself to recreate a favourite meal you had at your favourite destination. Your favourite chefs may be taking this time to share their much loved recipes so take advantage of that!
