The Pan Deï Palais is a historic country mansion house and it stands just a stone’s throw from the Place des Lices, the beating heart of Saint-Tropez, and only a few steps away from the bustle of the colourful Saint-Tropez harbour.

All the locals know this famous and grand palatial home as well as the legends which are part of its heritage.

Decorated so as to perpetuate the love story between an Indian princess and a French army general, the Pan Deï Palais is an intimate and luxurious family home with all the exotic charms of an Indian Palais steeped in history.

The history of the Pan Deï Palais dates back to the year 1820, when Jean-François Allard, an aide to Marshal Brune, was forced into exile after Napoleon was defeated. His journey led him to Egypt, Persia and then Pakistan, where Maharajah Ranjit Singh made him Head of the Armies. During the siege of the Himalayan fortress of Chamba, the former Captain of the Hussars captured Princess Bannu Pan Deï and fell hopelessly in love with her. In 1835, he commissioned the building of a grand Provencal country house in his home village of Saint-Tropez for Princess Bannu Pan Deï who became his wife and bore him five children.

Today, the Pan Deï Palais is a true haven of peace and relaxation in the heart of Saint-Tropez and it is the ideal place to stay and discover the authentic charms of the mythical town and the surrounding region, no matter what season it is when you visit.

Lose yourself in the town’s picturesque lane ways, discover the products of Provence while strolling through the market, visit the 16th-century citadel, explore the iconic harbour, stroll on the beaches or simply enjoy ambling idly along. This jewel of the French Riviera will certainly captivate and enthral you.
