EL GASTOR, ANDALUCIA
SLEEPS 8 IN 4 DOUBLE BEDROOMS
FROM £3,750 PER WEEK
This home in the hills is a little bit of Andalucian paradise tucked away from the world on top of a hill above a little white village called ' El Gastor'. it is a former farmers barn that was beautifully restored about ten years ago. The house sleeps 8 in 4 bedrooms. two are ' big doubles', one 'medium double' and one 'small double'. there are three bathrooms with good showers, one of which has a bath.
You can see the little white village of El Gastor tucked away down in the valley. it has a population of about 4000. There are lovely little bars that serve delicious cold Andalucian ' Cruz Campo' beers, white wine ( with lots of ice) and very simple tapas.
Great walks and exploring around the hills and valleys. There are so many places to go and set up a little picnic, or look at the stars at night. Truly believe the views from the house are some of the most beautiful in Spain, sunset cocktails at about 9.30 is a lovely time of day.
The pool is a much needed blue tilled refreshment especially during the mid summer months. There are 8 comfortable sun loungers, lots of pillows, chairs and blankets should you wish to sleep outside under the stars. The land around the house is looked after by a lovely man of the hills called ' Joaquim' - he cultivates the olives for oil and grows delicious organic produce for the house. You will find a basket of goodies in the kitchen.
The house sits quietly amongst the vines, orange and lemon trees. its about an 8 minute drive up a track from the village of El Gastor. The kitchen and sitting room are open plan with a lovely fire for winter months and doors leading out to the terrace for summer months. There is plenty of storage for wine and a big brand new fridge which dispenses lots of ice. For those who wish to contact the outside world there is WIFI and a television with BBC news. There is also an abundance of films and books should you want a quiet night.
For nature lovers, the house and surrounding walks are amazing. There are griffin vultures, eagles, rare mountain goats, mini owls and much more as well as beautiful riding trails and Lake Zahara for those wishing to sail and fish.
Maria is a lovely lady who comes up from the village every morning to clean up from the night before, take away all the evidence and squeeze fresh orange juice. If you are already up and about she will make your bed and cook some ' huevos con bacon' for your breakfast.
