THE VILLA

Dar Moulouya is situated in the Ourika Valley, which spreads between the foothills of the Atlas Mountains and the city. Despite being so close to Marrakech, this beautiful green valley is definitely one of the best preserved in Morocco.

With fabulous open spaces, a fantastic pool and beautifully designed rooms, Dar Moulouya is the complete home from home, luxurious get-a-way.

The entrance to the house is through a glorious Andalucian style courtyard filled with vibrant orange and lemon trees and a cooling fountain. This immaculate and wonderful house was built in 2004 in a traditional style and named after Morocco's most beautiful river. The stunning, colourful bedrooms are either on the ground floor of the villa or in the Pavilion, which is a few steps away in the garden. All bedrooms are ensuite and have air-conditioning. The Pavilion is ideal either for guests or teenagers who want their own space. There is generous living space with a large drawing room, a dining room and a TV room, in addition to several terraces overlooking the garden.

At the top of the floodlit staircase in the entrance hall, the pierced oblong dome is extremely impressive. The hall opens onto the upper terrace with Moroccan style seating and a shady pergola. This overlooks the extensive gardens and stunning views of the snow-capped Atlas Mountains and is a perfect spot for aperitifs.

Dar Moulouya is only 20 minutes from the bustling Medina of Marrakech but is utterly peaceful. Its large garden is spectacularly planted with a thousand roses, bougainvillea, olive, pomegranate and banana trees. It is also home to Leila and Charlie, the tortoise couple, who boss around the exotic birds and butterflies, drawn to this much-loved garden.

Do as much or as little as you like: R&R is highly encouraged at Dar Moulouya. Rise early and practice your morning fitness rituals on the enormous lawn, with nothing to disturb but soft birdsong. To help you feel as relaxed and at home as possible, you will be in the capable hands of Rabia, our wonderful resident chef.

Whether you want to explore the delights of Moroccan cuisine or you prefer to stick to more familiar dishes, Rabia will delight you with her delicious, home-cooked meals. Choose to have breakfast on the terrace, lunch under an olive tree in the garden or dinner under the Bougainvillea clad pergola, it's up to you!

Just three hours flight and a world away from England, Marrakech is an intoxicating city known for its souks, spices, snake charmers and hidden palace. However, these days it’s prized as much for its trendy art galleries, hip hotels and elegant hammams. A vibrant bustling city where Arab, Berber and European influences blend comfortably to offer an unforgettable adventure, Marrakech has much to offer.

From the iconic Koutoubia to the maze-like souk, the snake charmers to the tranquillity of the Jardin Majorelle, there is something for everyone. Excellent shopping, delicious international cuisine, buzzing nightlife, year-round sunshine and the wonderful Moroccan people make this a perfect location.

Just 45 minutes drive from Dar Moulouya lie the foothills of the Atlas Mountains. Here you can enjoy the country's best trekking, explore the Berber villages and ride mules up to the famous Kasbah Toubkal. The Atlas Mountains offer some of the region's most spectacular scenery and, if you are feeling adventurous, you can rock climb, mountain bike and even ski here. An excursion to the mountains is a striking contrast to the city of Marrakech and offers an insight into traditional rural life.
