SLEEPS 8 IN 4 ENSUITE BEDROOMS
FROM 2,310 EUROS PER WEEK
There are two apartments to rent, the lower Town Apartment with three bedrooms and the "Penthouse" with one bedroom.
The Paxos Town House is located in the centre of Gaios, the main port of Paxos in an area designated of special architectural interest. The house is right in the middle of the town, less than 50m from the quay and 100m from the main square. While all the shops, bars and restaurants are next door they are distant enough not to be disturbing. The 200 year old house has just gone through a four year renovation and 2017 is the first year of it opening. The house has been split into two totally self contained apartments maintaining the cosy rooms and wooden beams but now offering air conditioning throughout, modern bathrooms and fittings of the highest quality. Both apartments have shaded terraces for outdoor living.
The Penthouse is ideal for a couple wanting to enjoy the amazing views while the Town Apartment is perfect for a group of friends wanting to share the experience of village life. One of the beauties of the house is that it is attractive all the year round. These apartments also offer the opportunity for a family to take the whole house with the parents being able to escape to the Penthouse, leaving the children and friends with the lower two floors.
Being located in the centre of town renting a car is not essential. The shuttle ferries to Antipaxos are 100m away, boat hire is just 50m away while supermarkets, restaurants and shops are all within a stone's throw. And for the very lazy the island's best Italian restaurant is right next door.
The Town House sleeps six with three bedrooms. On the ground floor is a kitchen and living room with comfortable sitting and dining area. Tucked away in one corner is a cloakroom with a shower. Stairs go up to the first floor landing off which are the cosy bedrooms - two twin/double bedrooms with an adjacent bathroom and the more secluded third double bedroom with its own en-suite bathroom. The house is surrounded by the higgledy piggledy jumble of old Gaios houses and their terraces. The house has terraces at the front and back which are perfect for shaded lunches and starlit dinners or just relaxing with a book and glass of wine. The terrace on top of the old stone sterna is perfect for alfresco meals for all six guests.
After clambering up a flight of outside steps there is a terrace with wonderful views towards the hills surrounding Gaios, ideal for breakfast or drinks and dinner in the evening.. Off the entrance hall there is the large bedroom and bathroom, the latter equipped with marble basins and large shower, all fittings by Hans Grohe. Up one more flight of stairs and you reach the living room with amazing views of the sea, rooftops and the hills surrounding Gaios. One wall is lined with a fully equipped kitchen and the rest of the room is taken up by the sitting and dining areas
Paxos is an unspoilt island considered by many to be one of the best of all the Greek islands. It is only 10km long and 3km at its widest offering a combination of charming towns (Lakka, Loggos and Gaios), beautiful scenery (being covered by ancient olive groves), having no mass tourism, miles of stone donkey tracks, endless little bays with their pebble beaches and the cleanest water in the Ionian.
Paxos also boasts an astonishing 63 churches, surely the highest density in the word. The even smaller Antipaxos (20 minutes boat ride from Gaios main square) offers two of the finest sandy beaches in the Ionian.
Guests are met off the boat from Corfu and taken to their apartment
The apartments are cleaned twice per week and at the same time sheets and bath towels are changed. Guests are reminded that they need to bring beach towels
